Interstice 7 – Music for the Human Experience.

Interstice 7 is my musical project: a space where songwriting, psychology, activism and a lifelong fascination with the complexities of being human come together. I write the lyrics and shape the concepts, stories and emotional direction of the songs, while using generative AI tools to help produce the music and voices.

At its heart, Interstice 7 exists in the spaces between things: between humour and heartbreak, seriousness and play, intellect and instinct, human and machine. I am less interested in providing answers than in creating moments of connection, songs that invite people to pause, reflect, think from a different perspective, or perhaps recognise a small part of themselves within the music.

About me – music

Why Music?

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up around my father’s gigs in the 1980s and 90s, often sitting beside him on stage with a small keyboard, soaking up the atmosphere and discovering the power of music to connect people.

As a teenager, songwriting became my way of making sense of the world. It gave me a language for thoughts and feelings that felt too complicated, contradictory, or vulnerable to express directly. Over the years, my writing has been shaped not only by personal experience but also by my work and studies in psychology, criminology, philosophy, and social justice.

While Between States ventures into more introspective and emotionally raw territory, future Interstice 7 releases will also embrace the absurd, playful, and satirical. Alongside the serious themes, I have a deep love of irony, dark humour, and the wonderfully strange contradictions that seem to define modern life. Some of these songs are created with AI voices, but I also sing some of them. My strength is definitely in songwriting, not singing!
